Guilt Free Dairy Free Banana Ice Cream Recipe

Guilt Free Dairy Free Banana Ice Cream Recipe

Ice cream is among the most popular late night snacks, but definitely not one of the healthiest. Ice cream can have up to 400 calories in just one cup and it’s not the calories you want to consume either (especially late at night). Banana ice cream is a simple and effective way to get a healthier ice cream without the guilt. Mashing frozen bananas gives you an ice cream-like treat without all the added sugars and fat. It is one of the healthiest desserts and is super easy to make. Also great that it’s completely dairy and lactose free for those who can’t consume traditional ice cream.

banana-sliced-recipeIt is common knowledge that bananas are healthy. They have plenty of vitamins and nutrients – potassium being one of the prevalent ones. Potassium helps regulate blood pressure, maintain a healthy metabolism, and fight against anxiety and stress. Bananas are also eye and heart healthy. Banana ice cream provides all the benefits of bananas and any other delicious healthy foods you would like to add.
Banana ice cream doesn’t have to taste just like bananas, there are an unlimited number of combinations. Try adding dark chocolate, blueberries, peanut butter or any other healthy food that you love. Some of these can even mask the taste of bananas for anyone who wants to enjoy guilt free ice cream but hates the taste of banana.

To make banana ice cream, follow these simple instructions:

  1. Cut bananas into ½” pieces and freeze in an airtight bag for at least 2 hours.
  2. Throw the bananas into a food processor and blend until creamy (scraping the sides regularly)
  3. Once you have your creamy bananas, throw in your favorite healthy foods and continue to blend.

Be sure not to freeze your banana ice cream as it loses the creaminess. It’s not much to sacrifice for the ultimate dessert as you can make it quite quickly.

Our favorite recipe is the Peanut Butter, Dark Chocolate & Banana Ice Cream:
